Club
History
Chartered in 1935, the first meeting was January 31, 1935 at Deare’s 1200
East Main Street at 12:10 p.m. each Thursday and the day and time has not
changed. Since 1935 our club has
continually provided Christmas Baskets to the needy. The club has yearly since 1947 organized
the Sugarcane Festival Children’s Parade. Since 1949 the club has
given scholarships to college bound students. The club’s Stop Polio Project in
the 50’s administered 135,502 doses of vaccine to over 90% of Iberia
Parish residents. The club continues
to sponsor a Drug Free Program in Parish schools, a project started in 1990
adding our history of years of drug awareness involvement. Many other projects have been sponsored
over the years through the vision of our presidents and boards of
directors.
